Pipavav Defence delivers Offshore Supply Vessel to ONGC
Mumbai, 20th October, 2013Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering Company Limited (RDEL) has succesfully delivered its third Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV) on 24th September, 2013, to Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
This vessel is an indigenously built DP1-class OSV with Agni notations and meets global fire fighting (FIFI) class requirements. The vessel can carry cargo like cement, fuel oil, fresh water, brine, etc. and is classed under the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). Named “LJ Johnson”, the vessel succesfully completed its sea trial, including dynamic positioning, in four days, to the satisfaction of its class requirements and its owner, ONGC. It also has UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA) notations and Survivor Recovery Facility, apart from a proven speed of 13 knots.
RDEL is also qualified by ONGC for building a range of offshore assets and is set to benefit from the huge replacement demand expected over the next few years in the offshore oil and gas exploration sector.
